“Kay Pacha”

Kay Pacha is a Quechua term that translates to “this Earth”; representing a spiritual connection to the present moment. The here – and – now. The present moment is one where humans, animals, nature, and creativity can coexist in harmony. I learned about this concept when I had the opportunity to travel to Bolivia and Peru while earning my master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling. I connected deeply with individuals via artmaking alone – no words necessary. I felt a deep sense of connection to the concepts I learned about while traveling and engaging with community in collective artmaking. I feel that those teachings solidified my journey as an Art Therapist, and they continue to influence my therapeutic style and approach to my relationships with clients. I believe that through meaningful, intentional, therapeutic connection, and creative modalities of healing we can work together to propel you towards your truest self..

Art Therapy is an integrative and creative mental health profession aimed to enrich the lives of any individual who participates; through active art-making, the creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship (American Art Therapy Association, 2022, arttherapy.org).

Anyone can participate in, and benefit from, participating in art therapy. Artmaking is inherent to our nature; we can follow artistic expression all the way back to the earliest existence of humans. My invitation to you in our therapeutic relationship may include inviting your inner child to be creative and allow healing from experiences that have distanced you from your creative spirit.
